Your adventure begins with a pick-up from Kruger Mpumalanga Airport and a scenic road transfer to Umkumbe Safari Lodge, where you’ll spend the first three nights of your journey. Nestled within the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Umkumbe is ideally located for experiencing some of the best wildlife viewing in the Greater Kruger. Start each day with an early wake-up call, followed by a morning game drive led by experienced rangers. You’ll venture into the heart of the reserve to spot Africa’s iconic wildlife, with the chance to see the elusive leopards that Sabi Sand is known for.
After a hearty breakfast, there’s time to unwind at the lodge. Relax by the pool, enjoy the peaceful views, or take part in an optional bush walk, guided by expert trackers who will show you the smaller wonders of the ecosystem—everything from animal tracks to native plants. In the late afternoon, set out again for an evening game drive, where the cooler hours of the day bring more animal activity. After sunset, you’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars, listening to the sounds of the bush as you wind down.
After a final morning game drive in Sabi Sand, it’s time to move deeper into the Greater Kruger region with a road transfer to the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. Here, you’ll stay at nThambo Tree Camp for the next three nights, where your elevated treehouse-style chalet offers stunning tree-level views, giving you a new perspective of the bushveld. The mornings start early, with a game drive that takes you through Klaserie’s varied landscapes. Guides at nThambo bring a deep understanding of the area, helping you uncover both the big game and the subtler beauty of this tranquil reserve.
Following breakfast, you can relax back at camp, take in the panoramic views, or opt for another walking safari to explore the surroundings on foot. The afternoon game drives are a highlight, allowing you to see the bush as it comes alive in the cooler hours of the day. There will be a stop for sundowners in the bush—a perfect way to enjoy the fading light—before returning to camp for a cozy dinner around the fire, under the vast African sky.
On your final morning, you’ll head out on one last game drive, taking in the sights and sounds of the African wilderness one more time. After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to nThambo and the Klaserie Reserve, as your transfer takes you to Hoedspruit Airport, bringing an end to your incredible week-long safari adventure.
